MORE GROWTH AS THE YEAR COMES TO AN END

Monday, November 22, 2021

STAY  LOOSE,  FOCUSED,  AND  FLEXIBLE.  Relax but keep your feet planted and head down.”  Those were the terms we found most helpful during our yearly MWACA Leadership Summit golf outing. Well, to be clear, we went to  Topgolf after a full day of planning and strategizing for our members. I think all of the golf terms could carry over into leadership of MWACA, all but maybe keeping your head down.

Right now, the MWACA Leadership team and admin staff have their heads up high. Our team is proud to announce our latest additions, ASA Northwest, soon to be known as the Northwest Auto Care  Alliance  (NWACA),  and  ASA  Illinois,  which will assume our new MWACA Greater Chicagoland chapter. I am sure you have all heard by now that ASA made some bold and decisive changes in its structure. This new change eliminated the ASA Affiliate program effective January 1, 2022. When ASA Northwest asked MWACA about our programs and member benefits, it became clear that it was a “no-brainer” to partner with MWACA, which is currently leading the industry in membership growth.  With  Northwest’s 400-plus members and ASA Illinois’ 100 members, we will effectively more than double in representation.  This means substantially more industry relevance and the opportunity to negotiate stronger benefits for all the members.  To say the least, we are very excited about the future and all its possibilities.

Every couple of years, during the annual leadership meeting, we hold elections for the executive board. The executive board comprises mostly of individuals who have held chapter-level offices and wish to continue to a higher level. Well, it was a close one, but I made the cut again. I am happy to say I was re-elected to a new term. Unfortunately for you guys, this means that you will have to suffer through two more years of reading my message.

One last message that I wish to send out: It seems to me, and several others that I spoke with, that people generally tend to have a shorter fuse than  B.C.  (Before  Covid).  I  cannot pinpoint the cause of this pandemic of negativity. In discussing this with Travis Troy, the newly elected executive board member,  he mentioned that he encouraged his shop employees to make it stop with them. In other words, choose not to spread the negativity, but rather to change it to a positive. I like this idea, and I challenge you all to do the same.
